Before You Blame Your Age For The Heavy Afternoons And Stiff Mornings…
We read all 496 of our reviews. Here are the 7 things people noticed after changing what they drink from each morning.
Does lunch sit in your stomach like a stone until four o'clock?
Do your hands and knees take longer to get going in the morning than they used to?
Is there a drawer in your kitchen full of probiotics, teas and tablets you bought with good intentions and never finished?
And have you quietly stopped drinking plain water, because it just doesn't taste of anything?
If you're nodding along, we want you to know something first: you're not imagining it, and you're far from the only one.
Before you put it down to age, look at your mornings.
Most of our customers are over 55, and most of them are women. We know because we asked 1,378 of them. Eighty six out of every hundred were over 55.
So when they write to us, they write about exactly the things you just nodded at. Let's start with the afternoons.

I really didn't expect to notice anything from this but I think I have. I noticed a shift in my digestion, nothing major but just more comfortable. Also I feel like my clothes are fitting a tad looser!

First, Let's Talk About What That Heavy Feeling Is Actually Like
Because it's more than a bit of wind.
It's undoing the top button under the table after supper, and hoping nobody saw.
It's knowing which seat at the theatre is nearest the restroom before you've even taken your coat off.
It's saying no to a slice of your granddaughter's birthday cake, because you know exactly how you'll feel at four o'clock.
It's a friend asking "Are you all right?" when you go quiet after lunch. And you just smile, because what would you even say?
So you work around it. Smaller portions. No onions. Peppermint tea. Another probiotic from the drawer.
It's rarely just the afternoons, either. The mornings have slowed down too: a stiff start, and hands that need a minute on the kettle before they cooperate.
And underneath it all, a quiet worry that this is just how your body is now.
Here's What Most Of Us Tell Ourselves
When the heaviness starts, the mind goes looking for a reason. Maybe you've told yourself:
"It's my age. Everyone my age feels like this."
"It's something I ate. It's always something I ate."
"I'll try another probiotic. The last one almost worked."
"I know, I know. I should drink more water."
And so you shrug it off, loosen the belt a notch, and assume there's nothing to be done.
Or you buy something else for the drawer. Think about what's already in there. Chances are, most of it didn't fail because you gave up easily. It failed because the routine was hard to keep: a powder to mix, a capsule to remember with food, a tea you never quite liked. After a few weeks, the jar moves to the back.
But here's what almost nobody tells you.
The simplest thing on that list is the one most of us skip.
It's the water. Not the probiotic. Not the powder. Plain water.
Even the NIH's digestive health experts put it simply: "Drink plenty of liquids to help the fiber work better."
So why don't we? For most of us, the reason is simple. Plain water doesn't taste of anything we want to drink.
That's where our customers' stories begin: with the taste. They fill a copper bottle with plain water at night and drink it in the morning. Nothing to mix, and nothing to remember with meals.
Here are the 7 things they noticed, in the order they noticed them.
1The water tastes different the very next morning
You know what tap water tastes like when it's been standing in a glass. A bit flat. Sometimes a bit like the pipes.
A lot of us gave up on plain water years ago for exactly that reason, and never really went back.
After how beautiful it is, this is the thing people mention most about the bottle itself. Here's how they put it:
![]()
"I've had filtered water for years but put filtered water in the copper bottle and you taste in the first sip every morning."
Brian on 08/22Read it on Trustpilot
If you grew up with a well, or copper jugs, or a grandmother who kept water in a brass or copper pot, you may already know this taste.
It isn't new. It's old. In India they call water kept in copper overnight tamra jal, and families there have been making it for generations.
Now think back to that drawer. Every jar in it asked you to put up with something every day. This asks you to drink water that customers say tastes better than what comes out of the tap. That's a very different habit to keep.
That sounds like a small thing, the taste.
It isn't. Because of what it leads to.
2You drink more water, without trying to
Be honest with yourself for a second. How much plain water did you drink yesterday?
If you're like most of us, it was the one glass you gulped at the sink to get the pills down.
Marie had given up on plain water years ago…
Then, on the very first day, something changed.
![]()
"I struggle to drink enough water because I do not like the taste of any water. I realized the first day that I kept wanting to drink more and more water."
Marie Helman on 09/11Read it on Trustpilot
And Marie isn't the only one:
![]()
"I just can't wait to get up first thing in the morning and drink my water, something that I was not doing before."
Donna on 08/02, who titled the review "Donna the sceptic is very pleased"Read it on Trustpilot
Notice what they have in common.
Better-tasting water is easier to drink.
Customers say they're drinking water they weren't drinking before, first thing, on an empty stomach, because they want to.

3Some people tell us their stomach feels calmer
Alongside the taste, a smaller group of customers wrote about something else: the reason you may have started reading this page.
The heaviness after lunch. The elastic waist. The meal you've quietly learned to skip.
17 of our 496 Trustpilot reviews mention stomach-related experiences. That's far fewer than write about the taste, and there's a reason: many reviews are written in the first few days after delivery, and several customers say outright that it's too early to tell.
These are customers' own experiences, not clinical results. We haven't tested the bottle for digestion, and we don't claim it treats any condition. Here's what they wrote, word for word:
![]()
"I am less bloated after four days, so I am confident that the benefits will keep coming."
Andree Poirier on 08/06Read it on Trustpilot
![]()
"I'm enjoying my copper bottle. I think it may be helping my stomach issues. Less bloating anyway."
Sandy Heberling Updegrove on 06/08Read it on Trustpilot
Notice how plainly they put it. "I think it may be." "Anyway." "Nothing major."
What stands out is when they noticed it. Andree says four days. After the taste, it's one of the earliest things people mention.
Look back at numbers 1 and 2 and you'll see the same simple sequence:
- The water tastes better. Soft and clean, not like the pipes.
- So the morning glass becomes something to look forward to.
- So people drink more of it, first thing, every day.
That's a better morning routine, and it's the most practical reason to own the bottle.
So what actually happens to the water overnight? That part we can measure.
What a night in copper does to the water
Think of a tea bag in a cup. Leave it sitting, and the water takes on a little of the tea. Copper works the same way overnight, only far more gently. A very small amount of it passes into water that sits in it.
In our testing, water left in the bottle for 8 hours carries about 0.4 milligrams of copper per litre. That's below the EPA's copper action level for public water systems, which is 1.3 mg/L. The World Health Organization's drinking-water guideline value is 2 mg/L. Those are benchmarks for drinking water, not a safety certification for any bottle.
(mg/L)
A full bottle, drunk in a morning, carries about 0.38 milligrams. The NIH puts an adult's daily need at about 0.9.
And copper isn't something we invented. It's an essential mineral your body can't make for itself.
What copper does in your body, according to the NIH
- Helps your body make energy
- Helps your body use the iron in your food
- Helps build connective tissue
- Helps make the brain's chemical messengers
- Is part of the enzyme your cells rely on to protect themselves from oxidative damage
That's what copper does as a nutrient in your diet. The bottle adds a small, measured amount of it to your morning water.
That measurement tells you what's in the glass. It doesn't tell you how your stomach or your knees will feel. That part comes from what customers report, and it's different for everyone.
4Mornings start a little differently
Back to the customers. Once the glass was part of their morning, some of them started writing about the morning itself.
You know the mornings.
The alarm goes, and you lie there for a minute doing an inventory. Which bit hurts today. Whether you actually slept. Whether it's worth getting up yet.
![]()
"It took about a week for the difference to firmly anchor in my body. I have more energy. I wake up before my alarm and I am rested. Before I had to drag myself out of bed."
Wendy H. on 07/12Read it on Trustpilot
At 79, both of them still take it every morning…
![]()
"My wife and I both ordered the Copper vessels for us to use everyday. We have had them for about two weeks now and find that we enjoy our morning ritual… I am not going to tell you that we are ready to run Marathons, but at 79, both of us, we do feel better after we finish our drink."
William Houk on 05/18Read it on Trustpilot
Read William's again. "Not ready to run marathons."
That's exactly the size of the change people describe.
Not a new person. A slightly better morning, at 79, for both of them.
For a lot of us, though, the slow part of the morning isn't tiredness. It's the stiffness we talked about at the start.
5Some people say the stiffness eases a little
The customers below describe it in very everyday terms. They don't talk about a cure. They talk about getting on with the day.
Getting up out of a low chair. The first few stairs in the morning. Opening a jar, and then handing it to someone else to open.
Karen isn't just feeling better.
Karen is exercising again.
![]()
"I'm now exercising and feeling better, not aching so much. I actually ordered more for friends."
Karen S Lueck on 07/19Read it on Trustpilot
6Your family starts asking for one too
Remember what Karen wrote? She "actually ordered more for friends."
She isn't the only one. A hammered copper bottle doesn't look like a supplement. It sits on the counter and catches the light.
So people ask about it. Your daughter. The neighbour who pops in for coffee. The friend who stays the weekend.
And then they want one too. One customer went a step further:
![]()
"I have a glass next to my bed for morning refreshment. First thing!… when friends come over. I put a cup on their nightstand."
Jyl Porch on 09/05Read it on Trustpilot
A cup on a friend's nightstand. We didn't think of that. A customer did.
At least sixteen of our five star reviews mention buying another for someone else. Not because we asked. Because somebody at their table asked first.
7You never wake up to an empty bottle
Sharing is one reason people end up with a second bottle. There's a more practical one, and our customers worked it out before we did.
The water needs to sit in the copper for 6 to 8 hours. So with one bottle, once you've drunk it in the morning, that's your copper water done until tomorrow.
Miss a night, and you miss a morning.
With two, one is always full. Fill one at night for the morning. Fill the other at breakfast for the evening. There's never an empty bottle waiting for you.
Here's how Rhonda put it:

⚠️ Now, Before You Buy Any Copper Bottle, A Warning
Everything our customers describe starts with plain water sitting in bare copper overnight. So whatever you decide after reading this, please don't buy a copper bottle just because it's copper coloured.
One of our customers found that out the hard way. They saw our ad, went looking for a cheaper one somewhere else, and this is what arrived:
![]()
"Received what I paid for, painted metal outside of copper paint, inside was gray metal and the lip had a brass color to it. Returned it and got refunded. There's just no benefits drinking from copper paint."
Mountainvco on 02/04Read it on Trustpilot
Painted metal. Grey inside. You'd never know from a photo.
Nobody needs another purchase that ends up at the back of a drawer. So here's a test that costs nothing and works on any copper bottle, including ones you already own.
Real copper isn't magnetic.
Take a fridge magnet and hold it against the bottle. On solid copper, it slides straight off. On steel with a copper coating, it grabs and holds.
Do this the day any copper bottle arrives, whoever you bought it from. We know what ours does. Don't take our word for it. Find out for yourself. That's the whole point of a test.
A magnet only checks for magnetic metal, like steel, under the copper color. It isn't proof of copper purity.
Ours is 99.9% pure copper: that's our product specification. But the thing most people actually worry about is what comes out of the bottle and into their water. So we put it through a lead-leaching test with SGS, by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. It passed. The result was less than 0.1 micrograms per millilitre, against a limit of 7 for adults. The report number is MAN:HL:1648005569, issued on 8 August 2025, and the report is published on our website.
People sometimes ask us why anyone kept water in copper in the first place. Here's the best answer we have. In 2012, researchers put water carrying cholera bacteria into copper pots and left it. After about 16 hours, they couldn't find the bacteria alive, and the copper in the water stayed inside the WHO's safe range. It was published in the Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition. That study tested bacteria in contaminated water; it did not test whether drinking from this bottle improves digestion.
It's the same reason some hospitals put copper on door handles and bed rails. One of our customers, Johnny, even mentioned it in a review: "In hospitals, the handles were made of copper."
Introducing The House of Ayurveda Hand-Hammered Copper Bottle

How to Use and Care for Your Bottle
- Safe, plain drinking water only. The bottle doesn't make unsafe water safe. No lemon, citrus or electrolyte drinks: acidic drinks pull more copper into the water than you want.
- Let it sit 6 to 8 hours. Overnight is perfect, but don't leave water in it longer than 12 hours. You're asleep for all of it.
- Drink it in the morning. Before coffee, if you can.
- Clean it once a week, or when it darkens. Cut a lemon, dip it in salt, rub the inside of the bottle, then rinse well, and the shine comes back.
That's the whole routine, and nothing new for the drawer.
Who This Isn't For
Please don't buy this if you have Wilson's disease, a kidney or liver condition, or any condition that affects how your body handles copper. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor first. Buying for a grandchild? It's for school-age children, six and up, with plain water only. It isn't meant for children under 6.
It also isn't the right bottle if:
- You only like ice-cold water. The water comes out at room temperature, and ice makes the outside sweat.
- You don't want to polish it now and then. Copper naturally darkens over time, and it needs the salt and lemon every so often.

And one more number, because we'd rather be straight with you: our Trustpilot rating is 4.4/5 across 496 reviews, as of September 2026. Not 4.9. Forty seven of them are one star, and most of those are about how long delivery took. Those reviews include earlier delivery experiences. US orders now ship from our US warehouse. We'd rather show you a 4.4 you can check than a number you can't.
